How to Split a PDF and Extract Only the Pages You Need

By Prestofiles Team · · 1 min read

Pull out a few pages from a big PDF, or save every page as its own file. Two simple ways to split a PDF online.

A 60 page PDF is a problem when you only need 3 pages of it. Sending the whole file is slow, may hit a size limit and can share things that should stay private.

Two ways to split

  • One PDF with the selected pages: choose the pages you want, and get a single new PDF with just those.
  • Separate PDF for each page (ZIP): every page becomes its own file, packed in one ZIP download.

Steps

  1. Open Merge & Split PDF and choose Split PDF.
  2. Add your PDF.
  3. Enter the pages you need, such as 2-5 or 1,4,9.
  4. Choose one PDF or a ZIP of single pages.
  5. Press Split PDF and download.

When to use it

  • Extract the signed page of a contract.
  • Send one chapter of a book or one question paper.
  • Remove cover pages or blank pages by extracting everything else.
  • Separate a scanned batch into individual documents.

Smaller files as a bonus

A PDF with fewer pages is also smaller. If you still need a lower size, compress the PDF afterwards. To put pieces back together or add files from different sources, read how to merge PDF files.
