Passport Photo Size in Pixels and KB: 35x45 mm and 2x2 Inch

By Prestofiles Team · · 1 min read

Two of the most common photo sizes explained in pixels, plus how to keep the file under the KB limit of your form.

Online forms usually ask for a photo in pixels, in centimetres or in KB. Here are two common sizes and how to meet them.

Common sizes

  • 3.5 x 4.5 cm (35 x 45 mm): about 413 x 531 pixels at 300 dpi.
  • 2 x 2 inch (51 x 51 mm): 600 x 600 pixels at 300 dpi.

These are common examples. Rules differ by country and by form, so always read the official instructions for the exact size, background colour and file limit.

Meeting the KB limit

Many portals also set a limit such as 50KB or 100KB. Resize the photo to the right pixels first, then compress it. Our ready pages do both at once: passport size photo 3.5 x 4.5 cm and photo size 2x2 inch. For signatures use resize signature to 20KB.

Tips for a good photo

  • Plain, light background and even light on your face.
  • Look straight at the camera with a neutral face.
  • Take the photo at a higher resolution, then resize down. Do not enlarge a small photo.
Try it now: Passport / Govt Photo Resizer Set exact pixels and file size, like under 50KB or 100KB, for forms and portals. Open Passport / Govt Photo Resizer
